Pity Party No More: Are Your Trigger Points Screaming for Attention?

My biggest daily challenge is overcoming a major symptom of my condition, PAIN.  I used to think I was special, but apparently I’m not alone .  Recent studies show about 100 million Americans suffer from Chronic Pain and know the burden of pain on every day life.   In fact about 20% of those pain sufferers become disabled and have to leave work.  Over the last 3 years or so I have a small arsenal of self massage tools I use as weapons against pain.

I am having a fierce battle with my neck and shoulder trigger points.  These trigger points are hyper-irritable spots in skeletal muscle.   When someone presses them you want to jump out of your skin.  The pain wave these trigger points send through your body is both unexpected and breath-taking.  I used to panic and have an asthma attack from the pain if someone touched my trouble spots without telling me.  There are doctors and massage therapists that can and do help, however I have found a little device that allows me to treat myself to provide some comfort while I am in between appointments.

y trigger points on my neck and shoulders.

This little device is the DaVinci Tool.  It has three sides so you can apply the type and how much pressure you need.  There is a guide at http://www.bodyback.com where you can see all the different ways to use this too.  I have used the DaVinci tool it for well over a year and it has allowed me to enjoy that extra 30 minutes at dinner with friends, or finish a movie with my children.

Do you have any self massage tools you use to get you through the day?As always, please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences.  I hope that by sharing my experiences you find strength, hope, and solutions when you make your commitment to live beyond your illness.
