Destination Spotlight: What’s There Not to Love About Key West?

Five years ago I went to Key West for the first time, a weekend getaway for 15 girlfriends.   The weather was 85 and sunny, the streets were rich with history and color, and the people were so relaxed and friendly.  The entire time I was in Key West the sounds of Jimmy Buffett‘s music played through my mind.  You get the feeling that anything goes here as long as you don’t hurt yourself or anybody else. With Key West’s live-and-let-live attitude, it’s easy to see why the painters, writers, and free spirits live here.

Key West is literally at the end of the road. The southernmost point in the continental United States (made famous by Ernest Hemingway).  This tiny island is the most popular  in the Florida Keys.  More than 1.6 million visitors pass through it each year.

Enjoy the pictures from my last visit.  I’ll be visiting later this year…I’ll be sure to tell you all about it.

  1. This sounds like an amazing destination! Thanks for sharing! Sounds more quaint than South Padre which I just returned from. This may be my next destination!

  2. I didn’t realize so many creatives live in Key West. Wow. I love the live-and-let-live spirit of a location (I would right I am a creative), so thanks Carmen for the great insight. Beautiful.
