Ask Your Travel Counselor: How Much Money Should I Spend on My Vacation?

Do you know how much you should spend on your next vacation? According to an American Express Survey just released, the average American household plans to spend about $1,200 per person on vacation this year. However, I firmly believe there is no magic number. Whether your budget is $500 or $5,000, make sure you are comfortable with what you are spending.

Consider Spreading Out the Payments – Vacation Layaway

Vacation layaway makes it possible to afford a vacation by including a monthly payment in your monthly budget for your vacation.  Unlike a credit card, there are no fees, or interest charges.  The size of the payment and the number of payments will depend on how much time exists between the first deposit on your vacation and the date the last payment is due to the vendor being used, usually about 45 days before the day you leave for your vacation. Cruise lines usually require the final payment 75-90 days before you leave for your cruise.

To get the greatest benefit from using vacation layaway you should plan your trip 6-10 months in advance.  Deposits for a vacation layaway start at $150 per person.

This is just one of the many ways I help travelers get the most value for their vacation dollar. Call me – let’s talk about your getaway and develop a vacation plan to suit your needs.
