Living with Fibromyalgia: My Visalus Challenge Day 2 – Coffee

A coffee what?

How do you take your coffee?

Day 2: Pain levels are high. My fibro is in a full-blown flare. You can never tell how long the “Fibro-monster” will visit. It’s similar to hosting a mean family member whose visits you dread but make every effort to make as comfortable as possible, and they complain anyway. I was able to work this morning, but I spent the day in bed. I made it to our tattoo shop to sit with a friend while she got tattooed. Then back home to bed. I am sticking to the diet and feeling fine otherwise. The shakes are surprisingly good and I haven’t tired of them.

A coffee what?

This morning I had a coffee enema. I know it sounds strange, even gross, but it works. When my body feels too heavy to move and the pain is overwhelming. This is one of the few ways I can get some relief.

Coffee enemas help detoxify our bodies and ease pain.

While doing research on how to ease pain without medications, I read in World War II, coffee enemas eased the pain of soldiers when they ran out of pain medications. Additional research shows that the caffeine stimulates your liver ducts to do a better job of cleaning your blood, it’s also a great way to detoxify.

The first few left me feeling a bit nauseous and gave me a headache, which I knew about. However I noticed the benefits to my health within a week or so. Initially I did the enemas 3-5 days per week. When I started feeling better I do them about 1-3 times a week depending on my needs. I did consult with my doctor and while he did not feel there was a need to do them so often, he did not object–especially when he saw how much better I was doing without medications.

Do you have a unique health regimen?

Because I got by with a little help from my girlfriends, I want to help you get help from your girlfriends. As always, please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences.
