Pain is a serious public health and economic issue and it touches everyone.
Pain costs $100 billion annually in lost work days, medical expenses and other benefit costs, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health;
A survey completed by the Partners for Understanding Pain found that pain personally affects one in three people;
Pain causes more disability than cancer and heart disease combined (National Medical Association)
Causes of pain
Lower back problems, arthritis, cancer, repetitive stress injuries, headaches, fibromyalgia, and neurological issues are the most common sources of chronic pain.
How can you naturally improve your chronic pain?
Relax. 50% of pain can be reduced by relaxation. Enjoy a new experience. Schedule a relaxing vacation. Studies show those who do not take regular vacations are more likely to suffer from stress, which can illnesses such as insomnia, anxiety, and chronic pain.
Eat ginger, salmon, and herbs like rosemary and sage. Mother Nature’s medicine cabinet is filled with ingredients that relieve pain and inflammation.
Keep a physical well-being journal. Write how you are feeling physically, note if you have a headache, or notice pain; and include your weight at least once a week. If you notice symptoms that arise daily for a time, address them. If you are not sure what to do discuss the issue with your doctor, and do research on the internet.
There is a so much information out there for you today and we need to take responsibility for our well-being.
